Health & Safety
Melbourne Tree Care Is dedicated to providing a safe and professional service in accordance with leading standards of health and safety.
Every task we undertake is governed by a commitment to protect our team and the public from harm with responsible, accountable and highly skilled site management.
Part of this commitment is to hold weekly and impromptu toolbox meetings with all staff to discuss immediate and long-term aspects of site safety falling into the following three categories:
Team Safety
Our team members work cohesively, focussing on the welfare of themselves and their co-workers. Tasks are performed following strict assessment and implementation control measures for potential hazards.
All team members are required to use personal protective gear and are trained to operate our equipment, which is regularly tested, maintained and repaired by our qualified mechanic for safe tree removal. Material Safety Data Sheets are available in all vehicles along with Safe Work Method Statements and updates from Worksafe guidance.
Public Safety
When operating in a public space the safety of site staff, the public and vehicular traffic become our responsibility. Our comprehensive, site-specific Job Safety Assessments are re-evaluated where situational changes occur.
Our staff are all trained in first aid, CPR, traffic management and limits of approach for power lines. We will perform tasks outside of normal business hours where necessary to ensure a safe site with minimal disruption.
Tree Safety
Quality tree work arrives from quality training. As a pre-requisite to employment, all team members are required to have or be enrolled in relevant tertiary certification, with pruning cuts made only by qualified arborists.
In addition staff attend industry workshops held by the Victorian Tree Industry Organisation and Arboriculture Australia including, in 2014 alone, Vic Arborcamp, Vtio Soil Secrets Seminar, Treenet, Vtio Tree Defect Workshop and iTree training. We also provide full client support at every stage of a project, including post-job reporting and clearance of debris.
